| You have got to learn to play the guitar if you have that
little urge to play instead of just listen. It does take some work, but
not as much as you might think. So, which is it? You want to just play
an open mic night at the local pub? Believe it or not, you can learn to play the guitar online. There are both free and paid versions depending on how serious you are. So, whether you just want to impress a few friends or prove to yourself that you can do it, you have got quite a few options to choose from. Acoustic Guitar Basics -- You've got the body of the guitar, something called the Soundboard, and, of course, the strings. Vibration through all of these creates the sound. That is the stripped down version for you. Can you name all the different types of guitars? -- Like any popular industry, there are many different type/brands, but there are always a few that seem to stand out. Here are a few of those: The Classical is the Gold Standard -- This is pretty much what people think of when we are taking about acoustic guitars. It has 6 strings: 3 treble strings and 3 bass strings. I recommend getting a basic one of these to get your guitar playing off the ground. A Spanish Flamenco Guitar -- A very cool sound, but maybe a little advanced when yo are first starting out, Give it a try it you dare, but you may want to learn a few chords on the Classical guitar first. Steel-String -- It was made popular by Bluegrass, Folk, and early Country western players. It creates a crisper and louder sound. The Big 12-String -- If you like 1970's music then you have not doubt heard the 12-string in action. It creates more of a chorus effect than a regular guitar. Gibson Arch-top Guitar -- If you know guitars, then you've heard of Gibson. They are one of the all-time great guitar designers. Blues and Jazz players alike made this their go to guitar. The Bass Guitar -- Want to be like Paul McCartney in the old Beatles days? Well, you will need to play the bass guitar. The bass has a deeper sound than a classic guitar. You don't have to learn it left-handed like Paul, though. Banjo Guitar -- It's kind of a novelty guitar with the round body attached to the standard neck. They can have 2, 3, or 4 strings, maybe even 6 sometimes. Made famous by the back wood folks. The guitar is awesome and fun to play. It is really one of the few instruments that you can purchase at a reasonable price and actually learn a few chords quickly. Give it a try. I think you will be you will be surprised at how well you do. Find all kind of free articles about acoustic guitar lessons at http://www.acoustic-guitar-lessons.org. | If you are starting and online business, reliable web hosting
is one of the things you are going to have to have. Companies like
Bluehost, Hostgator, and Dreamhost will usually do the trick for most
web businesses, but make sure they can handle the 6 things below. 1. Website = Face of the Business -- Don't get caught up in all the bells and whistles. Make sure it looks professional, but don't get too carried away. You don't want to distract your visitor from the reason they came there in the first place. 2. It has got to be easy to get around. -- Seriously, keep it simple. You can't have people spending more than a couple of seconds trying to find what they are looking for. It will kill your business and the amount of time someone spends on your site. 3. Easy on the Pictures, my friend -- Not everyone has the super-duper broadband connection that you have. People that don't have it will have a problem loading your page that has 72 pictures on it. Cut it to 1 or 2 that are most important and make sure they are shrunk down to the proper size. 4. 4 sentences or less = Easy to Read -- Short sentences are just naturally easier to read. Again, it's about making your visitors experience more pleasurable. Break up the long paragraphs. 5. The site needs to work in both Firefox and Internet Explorer -- Their are others for sure, but these seem to be the most popular one's at the moment. You are going to want to make sure that your site works the same in both. Go to w3.org and double check. 6. Don't fall in love with scripts -- I would say just stay away from them all together. They slow the loading of your site way, way down. Remember, keep things very simple. You don't always need all the fancy flashing lights. Let people find what they are looking for. This is setting up your page properly 101. Don't discount these 6 things. hey alone will make your life a lot easier when it comes to the success of your website. | We sure do love our cars here in the US, but we really need to
start doing some things a little different. Just think back to when you
first went to the station and paid $3.89 a gallon. You probably felt
sick to your stomach. These gas prices have made people look into hybrids and alternative fuel vehicles in record numbers. But, you really don't have to run out and buy a new car. There are some things you can do with the car you already have to improve gas mileage. #1 On a regular bases, change the air filter -- Your car has an internal combustion engine. That means the fuel mixed with air is what makes the engine work. If your air filter is clogged up you could be losing up to 10% of your fuel efficiency. Change the air filter a couple times a year. It is actually very easy and very inexpensive. It is seriously something you can do yourself, usually for under $10. #2 If you drive like you are suppose to, you will save -- Most of us hit the gas pedal too hard and ride the gas pedal too much. These are both kills as far as efficient driving goes. Take it easy on both and see your mileage increase 5-10%. #3 The best gas mileage is related to lower speeds -- Use your cruise control if you have one. The more consistent you keep your speed, the better mileage you will get. It may not be fun, but it will keep money in your wallet. #4 Regularly service your car -- I don't know why people don't do this. I mean, come on. It tells you right in the manual when you get the car serviced. Do it. Heck, so cars even have maintanace monitors that will flash and tell you when things need to be serviced. Listen to it. #5 Turn off the Air Conditioner -- While many newer cars have air conditioners that will recycle airs automatically through the cabins when it reaches a certain temperature, older vehicles will just continue pumping it out, wasting energy and fuel. If you can do with out it, do with out it. These are easy things to do. Doing all or just a handful could greatly increase the money you keep in your pocket. | Here is something you may not know: when you drive a Jeep, you
become part of a cool club. Well, it's not that exclusive and it seemed
to only happen to me when I lived in California. People driving Jeeps
would honk at to other people driving Jeeps. No, seriously. I have
since moved from there and no long get waved to, but I was a big thing
on the west coast. Jeeps are very useful vehicles. They were built in the 1940's for the US military and have now become a part of American society with 7 different models. Here is a list of the different Jeep gas mileage trim levels: 2010 Chrysler Jeep Commander The Commander with the big 8 cylinder engine is going to come in at 13 city and 19 on the highway. The more efficient V6 gets a respectable 15/20. 2010 Chrysler Jeep Compass All Compass models come with a 4 cylinder engine. The 5 speed MT model has an EPA rating of 23/28. The 5 speed automatic gets 21 in the city and 25 on the highway. The 6 cylinder automatic model is rated at 16/21. There are two V8 option on the Grand Cherokee: one has MDS that shuts down 4 cylinders when you don't need them to get you 13/19 and the big HEMI version that gets you a not so great 11/16. Chrysler's 2010 Jeep Liberty The Liberty comes with one engine option that gets 16/22. Chrysler's 2010 Jeep Patriot You actually get three different engine options for 2010: a small 2L model gets you 23/27/; a 5 speed manual will get you 23/28 and the 5 speed automatic gets an EPA rating of 21 in the city and 25 on the highway. The 2010 Chrysler Jeep Wrangler V6 5 speed MT 15/19 V6 5 speed AT 15/19 2010 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited This better equipped Wrangler has a V6 and comes with a 15/20 rating whether you get the automatic or manual transmission. I want the best fuel efficiency from my Jeep. What do I do? a) Chose 2WD or don't run the Jeep in 4wd when it's not necessary b) A 4cylinder is going to get better fuel economy than a V6 and both will do better than a V8. Unless you need the power for towing or something like that, stick with the smaller engine if you are worried about fuel economy. c) Try not running the air in your Jeep. You have probably heard this, but he air conditioning is about ass big a gas sucker that you have in your Jeep. If you can go without it, it may save you a few bucks. I like my Jeep, but I am definitely getting tired of the gas mileage I get. I might have to go with a sedan or hybrid for my next vehicle. Bill has a lot more free stuff at his Car Comparison website. What is cool is that the it is all free and talks about topics like the Toyota Camry hybrid gas mileage. |
